The Gasum Fund
Objective of the Fund
The purpose of the Gasum Fund is to support the transition to a sustainable energy economy by supporting research in sustainable energy and the circular economy.
The Fund is one of the Finnish Foundation for Technology Promotion’s special funds, and the foundation manages and administers the Fund.
Who can apply for grants?
To achieve its objectives, the Fund awards grants primarily to doctoral students for research related to the Fund’s thematic areas. Funding may also be granted for high-quality master’s theses with a strong focus on university-industry collaboration. Support is awarded for research conducted in Finland, including possible research periods abroad.
The Fund aims to support full-time research. Full-time research is primarily supported through full-time grants. In addition, the Fund seeks to provide students with long-term funding. Consequently, it is possible to apply for funding from the Fund for several consecutive years. This, however, requires evidence of progress. Progress must be demonstrated both in the application and in a letter of recommendation from the supervisor or examiner of the work.
How are applications submitted and evaluated?
Applications are submitted through the Finnish Foundation for Technology Promotion’s online service and must include the required attachments. Applications may be addressed directly to the Gasum Fund, but other applications addressed to Finnish Foundation for Technology Promotion that fall within the Fund’s field of activity will also be directed for evaluation by the Fund where possible. It is also recommended that applications concerning master’s theses addressed to the Gasum Fund include a research plan.
Applications addressed to the Gasum Fund are reviewed by the Fund’s advisory board.
Final decisions on grants are made by the Board of Finnish Foundation for Technology Promotion.
